First impression on SMJK Yu Hua

I believe most people will say that SMJK Yu Hua is a very good school in Kajang, so does my parents. They always said that the Chinese are very hardworking & thus creating splendid students for our country. Well, it’s quite true actually. So that’s why after my PMR examination in year 2007, my mum wanted me to be changed to Yu Hua because the previous school was so lousy.

Before I was changed to Yu Hua, I thought of changing to Yu Hua because I thought I will never get used to the Chinese school. Somemore as far as I know, Yu Hua students are very active in their ko-kurikulum & I’m not that active. I was also told that Yu Hua students have to study Chinese literature & you know what, I got a C for my PMR so how could I study Chinese literature? Luckily all this nonsense are untrue.

Today, my friend asked me what my first impression on Yu Hua was. I told him I’m going to write a blog to answer his question. Well, before I’m a student of Yu Hua, I had already been to Yu Hua for, I think twice. Once was when my mum’s kindergarten held an occasion  there & once was when I tried to apply to study in Yu Hua last year but I failed to apply so my mum asked Lau Lee Ling, or whatever her name is, to help me get into Yu Hua. That’s why I’m here today.

So, in 2008 January 3rd, I finally can step into SMJK Yu Hua compound with fully dressed uniform with a bag on my back. At that moment, I got a feeling like I’m just a student from other school came visiting Yu Hua. I knew nobody at that time except some of my friends which was also from my previous school & too bad I’m not that close with them so I just waited at the lobby for teacher’s instruction later. I started thinking of my previous school, what were my friends doing now? Would they noticed my absent?

We, new students, stood outside the hall until the end of the assembly & then we went up to the stage to be sorted into different classes according to what subject we were going to take. Amazingly, I accidently heard some students greeted the prefects when they passed by each other. How respectful they were! Me & two of my friends were sorted into 4E class. We don’t know where it was so we start searching. Luckily my friend’s friend told us it was located on the third floor above the hall. I forgot which staircase we used but along the staircase, I noticed that the wall was badly dirty. Thanks to the students. I got an eerie feeling that very moment because the place was dirty & dark. The first classroom I saw was the first one from the right side of the building on the third floor, which was actually my class, 4E. before I knew it was my class, I hope I’m not going to study in this kind of class because it waws quite odd looking compared to my previous school. It was old, small, & the windows were at the back of the class, the doors were between  the white board, the tables were small & not made of wood. I had to accept this class since this is my class for me to study for the rest of the time. I sat beside a guy named Clarence & later I found that he was born in Canada.

During the recess, I went to visit the canteen. It was bigger than I thought. There were many variation of foods & it was delicious but the price…… After that , I went to the toilet. It was small, dirty & smelly. At least the doors were made of iron so  the students can’t break it down. Not like my previous school, where their toilet doors were plastic & always broken by the students. Here at least some doors still can be closed, better than no door at all! The toilets here were free of charge, not like my previous school which had to pay RM0.50 per entry. I never saw any students smoked here before even till today. But you can still find some cigarette buds & the smell of the smokes in the changing room.

The student’s discipline were far more better than my previous school although about 50% of the students here wore ‘trumpet shaped’ trousers & seldom tucked in their shirts but this is common in every school. In terms of attitude, the students here hardly fight with each other & they were very friendly.

On January 13th 2008, the 7th day of the Chinese New Year, I was surprised that the school got performances by the students. Since that day I hoped there’ll be a chance for me to perform on stage & it really does. On June 14th 2008, there was a performance by the Chinese orchestra club with my club (violin club). But this year I left that club for certain reasons. So I’ll never perform on stage in Yu Hua anymore, unless someone ask me to perform…

Well, that’s all I can write but actually I can write even more, just that I don’t have such time to write so long. Hope you all enjoy reading & please pay some  respect to me & don’t criticize my blog just because of some grammar errors.
